Rod & Reel Repair >> Reel Maintenance Tips

Keep it Clean...

Pretty much sums it up...

--After a solid day of hammering your sportfishing reel, always loosen the drag. Then rinse the reel with a light spray of fresh water. Spray the reel with Salt-X. Store your reel in a weather-protected area.
--Do not put grease on the bearings. Oil them, but be sure to grease the gears.
--If your reel gets immersed in saltwater, immediately send it to us (or another authorized dealer) for cleaning. Don't wait too long, or the parts will corrode and you will need to replace them.
--Do not disassemble the reel completely, especially if you are unsure of what you are doing. It is easier to fix an assembled reel versus a disassembled reel.
